We were very concerned about very poor air quality from Canadian wildfires making it unhealthy to dance outdoors, but a brief heavy
local rainstorm while we were eating dinner together washed the air and we had a fine time dancing out for George after all! -
Westerly Summer Pops Pre-Show at Wilcox Park
in Westerly, RI - Saturday, June 24, 2023.
Allen's report: "And a fine time was had by all! We had 6 dancers, plus 2 on IR (injured reserve), and 4 musicians (I don't think we've ever had that many for Pops), we got dinner early enough so as not to interfere with run-throughs, the dances went well enough, and the weather cooperated enough to get most of the concert in. Foggy during eve, and some misty conditions caused a short pause in the second half, after which they decided to drop 3 of the scheduled pieces and fast forward to The Beatles (Let it Be) and the 1812. Good fireworks, and the mist abated, so no worries about leaving in the rain, like a couple of years ago. All in all, a good evening!
